Day # 18 Mrs. Gorman- Grade 4 Teacher

Through his inspiring music and unique collection of hats, Johnny the K's overall message was clear; Be a Buddy, Not a Bystander. Bullying situations usually involve more than the bully and the victim. They also involve bystanders—those who watch bullying happen or hear about it.  Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem or the solution. Johnny the K taught me that instead of being a bystander who passively accepts bullying by watching and doing nothing, be a buddy. A buddy will directly intervene, by discouraging the bully, defending the victim, or redirecting the situation away from bullying.  They will also get help by rallying support from peers to stand up against bullying or by reporting the bullying to adults.  So instead of just watching, be a buddy and put a stop to bullying.
